Barwon Heads Shinkyokushin Karate

Welcome to the Barwon Heads Shinkyokushin Karate Club

Member of the World Karate Organisation (WKO), the Barwon Heads’ shinkyokushinkai karate club is a not for profit organisation. In its 18 years of operation, it has produced state and national champions. The club is run by enthusiastic and dedicated female and male instructors in a relaxed and safe environment.

Classes for children and adults run weekly. Learn and practice karate, self defence, no contact fighting in a controlled environment and participate in tounaments. Develop motor skills, strength, fitness and self confidence. Learn to respect yourself and others. Have fun and make friends!

Monday children’s class 4.20pm – 5.15pm
Monday advanced children 5.20pm – 6.20pm (2nd blue and above only)
Monday adults class 6.30pm – 8.00pm

Wednesday children’s class 4.20pm – 5.15pm
Wednesday advanced children 5.20pm – 6.20pm (2nd blue and above only)
Wednesday adults class 6.30pm – 8.00pm

We are currently working at introducing a fighting class on Friday nights. We will confirm the times and dates soon.

2013 Classes

Classes will be held every Monday and Wednesday resuming on the 4th of February.

Juniors – 4.40pm to 5.40pm

Adults – 6.15pm to 7.45pm

New members, both juniors and adults, are always welcome.

2012 BARWON HEADS / SURFCOAST CHRISTMAS BREAK UP PRESENTATION DAY

2012 Christmas Beach trainingOn the 15th of December  Barwon Heads and Surfcoast dojos combined to have there christmas break up and presentation day, around 60 people trained in the beautiful waters of Ocean Grove beach and then headed back to the Barwon Heads Dojo for presentations and lunch. ($800 of pizza).
We wish all of our shinkyokushin family a safe and happy christmas.

Australian Championships 2011

Barwon Heads Victorian Kata representatives Congratulations to Bradley, Georgia, Jack, Madeline, Brodie and Zoe who  all earned the right to represent Victoria at the Australia Kata Championships. A early start was had by all leaving on a 6.00am flight to Sydney. We arrived in Sydney and took a short taxi drive to our accomodation at Coogee Beach, a short break them back in the taxi and of to the venue. All competitors were nervous but excited at the same time. Although there were not alot of competitors in the teams kata divison Barwon Heads students were a class above and there hard work and practice payed of.  We now have the Australian champions (Brad, Georgia and Jack)and also the 3rd place trorphy went to Madeline, Brodie and Zoe. Congratulations.

Success at Victorian Shinkyokushin Non Contact & Kata Championships

On Sunday the 19th of June 2011  Barwon heads students competed in The Victorian Shikyokushin Karate Non Contact and Kata Championships and what a day it was for the Dojo. The under 12 Kata teams placed 2nd & 3rd, under 16 & open  Kata teams are now Victorian Champions.  Individual Kata under 8 placed 2nd, under 13 2nd and  3rd and open 2rd place. Individual non contact Under 8 Victorian champion, under 10 Victorian Champion, Under 12 2nd place, under 17 2nd place and open 2nd place. The day was a huge success for all those who competed and a very successful day for Barwon Heads Dojo well done everyone.
